I could not find anything like a good description or video online anyplace so I gave it a try of reinstalling the brushes back into the drill. It worked, so I made this video for anyone who might need the same thing done. Brushes are pieces of a carbon material that can conduct electricity reasonably well rather than use a hard metal for the brush contact which can wear down things by heat friction. Brushes are simply electrical contacts that "brush against" something like a spinning motor. If the brushes are worn down so bad, there is little force left to hold them in position against the "commutator" ring, and may even be ground down to the metal spring. To prevent damage to the drill, you have to get a new set of brushes; check online with Google search, etc. I took the drill apart to clean it and the brushes naturally fell out since they are held into position against the motor comutator ring, and when this motor is taken out then the brushes will spring out of position. In this old drill, you cannot accces the bruses from the outside body of the drill like some modern devices/motors. A drill is one of the most important electric tools, so get one even if you dont have much of a use for one. Uses: drill holes, drill starter holes for screws, mix paint, a lathe, a grinder, wire brush, polishing, and maby a bunch more uses. If you dont want to repair the drill, maby some neighbor knows, put a request on Craigslist, call the hardware store, or look for an authorized ...
